Twenty-one-year-old Lana moves from small town Odessa to the heart of San Antonio for a job at an elite hair salon, but she's running out of time finding an apartment in the area that doesn't give her the creeps. When she stumbles upon a hopeful add, she immediately falls in love with the Spanish colonial mansion and the cozy basement apartment for rent. Lana comes home from work one day and finds the driveway unexpectedly flooded with motorcycles, but one man sitting on a couch captures her attention. Guns and empty beer bottles are spread over a table in front of Angel. He's smoking a blunt, his hands full of money, unsmiling at Lana as she walks to her apartment. Lana can't stop thinking about the dark look he gave her, the confusion of it all. Having her heart broken by her ex-girlfriend only a few months ago, Lana amends she might be attracted to men after all. Angel is fascinated with the girl renting out his family's basement, but after getting out of prison and picking his business back up, he swears to stay clear of her. He doesn't want her getting caught up in his dangerous lifestyle, but when a serial killer attacks Lana, Angel realizes he can't bare to lose her.
