"Brother" I call out "I wish to train in the summit" golden eyes now stare into my grey ones. His lips pursed tightly as he sat motionless in his chair, assessing me. I thought that I might be wrong, but his face had seemed a little pale.
"You don't have a Darpan to take care of you. We cannot send you to the summit." He states firmly. 'There won't be any negotiations, Mika', his eyes seem to say.
"I am capable of protecting myself" I state.
"Not from the beasts of the summit, no." He says his voice dangerously low.
"Then...be my darpan" In most cases, when another Darpan was not ready to teach the Sajari, their own family members would step in. However, in my family no one had. My brother seemed to care about me, but why he hadn't was a question I had never dared ask him.
His lips parted in suprise. And yet another sigh "I wish I could, but I can't"
"Of course. You can't do anything apart from slapping potions on my forehead. But it's alright, since you wish you could" I spit, my frustration clear. And regret too, but I avoid looking at him.
I sighed and turn towards the windowsill (still avoiding Rin) "MIKA!" And jump down from it.
