Diseases are no new thing to the kingdom of Elysium, but this one is different. It goes from benign to fatal in a split second and spreads like wildfire. It's quick, brutal, and deadly- the most effective kind of plague. If someone doesn't do something, soon, the entire kingdom will be wiped out. A group of three assassins who are thick as thieves and twice as deadly. A royal sorcerer and right-hand man to the dictator king. A chaotic criminal with a passion for alcohol and starting fires. And a 500-year-old forest spirit who is somehow the most childish of them all. What do they have in common? Absolutely nothing. And yet, they're forced to work together with the impending deadline of eternal doom on their hands. The fate of the entire kingdom, and perhaps the entire world, rests on their shoulders. What could possibly go wrong?

Drome isn't paranoid. The entire world really is out to get him. And that world isn't even Earth. It's a weird hollow world that his whole village ends up in through a thaumaturgic accident. And to make matters worse, as soon as they arrive he's taken hostage. If the creatures who abducted him, and took him to the Imperial Palace, don't kill him first, there's a queue of hostiles, sharpening their knives, right behind them. Luckily Drome escapes with the help of a living skeleton, but that relationship is more than a little strained by Drome's unerring ability to annoy everyone he meets. Getting back to his village won't be easy, seeing as he's not even sure where it is. But he needs to return quickly and warn them of the homicidal imperial troops on their way to wipe out every person in it. That's if someone else doesn't kill him first.
