Legolas is sent on a mission to find the three guard members that have been missing for eight days. He gets to choose two people to accompany him, he chooses the twin sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir. They travel to a town called Stone Broke, a town that hates, and kills any elf that enters. When they arrive Elrohir slips up and reveals that he his pointed elven ear, to en unsuspecting human named Ghymnkash.  The man? Follows them and tells them that he is an elf too. After a failed spider mission, Legolas is left injured beyond what the Greenwood healers can help. Thranduil, worried for his son's Fea, sends him to Imladris for help. But the unit escorting the prince is attacked on the way and Legolas, after barely escaping, then fleas to the most unlikely of places where he hides, refusing to tell anyone of his whereabouts, afraid to go to Imladris, afraid to go home. This story fills in some gaps from The Return and creates a few more that I may delve into in a later fic. Thanks to @GerithorDunedain and @Illeandir for the title! @GerithorDunedain also gave me the prompt for this story XD

Once again, the ranger from the north and the elven prince go on a journey together. The ring must be destroyed" Legolas said "It is true you cannot just walk into the gates of Mordor but you should not be so naive as to think you alone could destroy the ring" I said as Gimli looked towards me "And I suppose you think you're the one to do it ?" Gimli said cockily "And if we fail,what then ? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his ?" Boromir questioned looking towards Gimli as he leaps to his feet "I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli says looking towards me spitefully. "How dare you speak to me in such a manor dwarf!" I said rage in my voice as the council erupted into a storm of arguments. "Never trust an Elf!" Gimli said towards me as I reach for my arrow but a hand grabs my wrist and I feel warm breath on my ear "I wouldn't" Legolas' voice says against my skin as I look at him our faces inches apart. "Fine" I say through gritted teeth as Legolas lets go of my hand softly and stands by my side.
