Miho Hachimiya is a first year student that just started high school at Shinonome Academy as a transfer student. She leads a pretty normal life, aside from the fact that she obsesses over her favorite book "The Pepperwood Chronicles" a bit too much to the point where she's become near-fluent in English because of it. She meets second-year baseball player Shinya Fujitaka, who also happens to be a big fan of detective fiction and mystery, and instantly becomes friends with him. They then start the Shinonome Detective Brigade to solve all kinds of cases in their school!
