"I am not a star," Regulus argued, still trying to hide the smile that threatened to bloom on his face. James was always trying to make him smile.
"But you are," James said, nodding.
"I am not," Regulus smiled, not able to resist anymore. "There is several reasons for that."
"Tell me, Regulus," James replied, leaning even more forward, his eyes on him. James' eyes seemed darker during the night. In the day, when they would see each other during meals, his brown eyes would look lighter.
"First of all, I don't shine," he started, looking to the sky. That day, there was no clouds in the sky.
"Wrong," James cut him quickly in his tracks. "You are."
"What are you talking about."
"There is gold on your clothes," James said, eyeing at Regulus coat. "And when you smile, the night is over," he added with that charming smile of his, looking right into Regulus' eyes.
And Regulus scoffed, shaking his head. "It doesn't count."
"It does," James just answered.

"Reggie? Regulus? Whats wrong?" James tried to reach out to him, but Regulus pulled himself away. His chest felt like it was being ripped out, his throat being scratched violently by the attack of petals climbing up. His coughing got louder and more violent before finally a handful of sunflowers fell into Regulus' hand. James stared down at him, an unknown expression on his face but Regulus didn't have time to study him. He tried to hide the petals but he knew he was to late. James had already seen them, and he could see the obvious splatter of blood on his chin. "What the fuck just happened? Are those sunflowers?" James once again tried to reach out to him, going for his hands, wanting to get a closer look, but Regulus snatched his hands away and took a few more steps back. "You- you didn't see that, do you hear me? You didn't see it" And before he knew it, he was already at the bottom of the astronomy tower stairs, leaving James standing in the middle of the tower. 1/3 So it starts when Regulus is in fifth year (15-year-old) and James is in sixth year (16-year-old). The dates might not be accurate but just go with it. After a horrible relationship, Regulus was found crying in the hall and James found him. James comforted him and then they went back to James' room. And that's how it starts. Some pregnancy scares and pregnancy at the end of the story. (just to have some drama for the next generation). There's a moment of silence, and then it is James who twists their arms, locking the charm in place. Not that either of them will remember it the following day, drunk as they are. -------- James and Regulus get really drunk and make an unbreakable vow. James swears that Regulus will be in love with him by the end of the year, and Regulus swears not to push him away and make him try. When they wake up the following day, they remember nothing of it. But everyone knows what happens if you don't go through with it, so they can do nothing but try to recall and respect their drunken promises or be met by sweet old death. Stan stared for a moment but said nothing. The bus jolted into motion, sending Regulus sprawling against the window. He didn't care. The world outside blurred into streaks of color, and for the first time in hours, days, fucking weeks he allowed himself to breathe. The pain throbbed with each beat of his heart, but he ignored it.
