Elena Richards-Russos and Lucy Richards grew up in an abusive home with an abusive man. When Elena is 13 and Lucy is 5 they finally get taken away by social workers and are put into Elena's birth family's house. Elena has no idea they exist and has not known that she's been missing for 12 years due to her birth mother running away with her when she was only one. Elena is very skittish to this new environment and people to the point where she struggles to let them in even though she soon comes to realize they would never hurt her or Lucy emotionally or physically. "Nowhere is safe, you know?" Foster homes, orphanages, replacement homes, you name it, Georgia Monroe has never fit in anywhere.
