Salem's backstory. He was born loved and cared for, but when he turned ten, he sadly wasn't there when his parents died, his house was blown up by a cult that wanted his parents involved and active but, they had declined because they had a furtive and life with their son. He went into a group home alone and frightened, he's been mute since he was ten. He doesn't talk whatsoever. Doesn't matter what the conversation is, he'll only nod or shake his head. He was finally adopted at age 13, he now lives with the Salvatore's who are both powerful and superior witches, Eric Salvatore and Amir Salvatore, His fathers. They have an intelligent family cat named Hex, anyways Salem doesn't open up to anybody at all. Seth's backstory Seth grew up in an abusive home, yet his family is extremely rich, his father would beat him to 'shape him into a great man,' when really it just fucked him up and drove him to kill, he started with animals and slowly worked himself up to people, no one knows he is a murderer. He went to school but dropped out of college which disappointed his parents even more, which is how he got the two scars on his eyes. He was also raped when he was 16 in an alley by some disgusting guy, when he told his parents what happened they gave him the scar that is on his left cheek, they called him a disgusting and weak beta plus that he would be nothing more than a disappointment. Astren City, and all surrounding area, have the highest crime rate in the northern part of the country. Dozens of crime families constantly trying to take the throne, as well as corruption lurking around every corner, do not aid in that fact at all. Salem Heart's father, Jack Heart, happens to be the Astren City Chief of Police, a title which holds a lot of weight and a rank that claims even more power. He's well respected, and amazing at his job. That said, greatness is expected of Salem as well. Of course that isn't a problem, Salem will always be loyal to the law. He was raised by it, and upholding it is his future career aspiration. He thinks he has his life figured out. The fact that his ex-boyfriend comes from a notorious crime family, and has been arrested several times by Jack's own department, doesn't matter. Salem's passed that, he's over Atlas Marino and he always will be. He will ignore that scratch in his record, and cover it up with his success. Salem is offered a job to help with an investigation that could benefit his future career astronomically. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand.
