A small sea side, cozy, cottage core town of 3,000 people. Local coffee shops bustle with everyone trying to get their fill of caffeine before the sulk off to their sad 9-5 everyday. With one high school, a middle-elementary school mix, a gas station, and one grocery store, the younger people who aren't fully dead inside, get restless in this sorry excuse of a town. This town is for people who like the roar of the constant crashing waves or people who died here then had kids and decided to torture them by sticking around. Was the passage I glanced over while in line at the better or the two coffee shops this town had, I shoved the tower that stood next to me pointing at the passage. "It's official, they know this town too well" I say as I wait for him to read it. With a deep chuckle he snatches the paper out of my hand to place it back, "You might be right" he said stepping forward, moving closer and closer to the barista. "I hate when critics and tourists come here" I say gesturing to the family of 4 with matching shirts. He laughs again looks forward not responding, but just shaking his head, shoving his hands deeper into his jacket.

In a pristine, watchful neighborhood where nothing goes unnoticed, Elizabeth has always been the quiet observer. When the elderly couple next door moves out, their once-cozy cottage transforms into something sharper, darker - and the new arrivals arrive under cover of night, bringing sleek black trucks and heavy crates. ©2025
