Summary: Bikini Bottom has become disheveled like SpongeBob and his old square pants. With a new identity and career, Detective Joe Sponge finally broke the mold of being a kid. As imminent death looms, his narration reflects on whether his journey through manhood and career decisions should fill him with satisfaction or regret. Sponge excels at finding crooks yet struggles to find himself.

This Neo-Noir adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants has settings, characters, and cited lines in the reference list below the chapters that mostly belong to Nickelodeon and, in particular, the early seasons of the SpongeBob franchise and first movie.
