"I want to make a deal with you," I say. 

It cocks its head in curiosity. "Go on."

"I will tell you a secret and you will allow me to leave with my life." 

The demon turns translucent with desire at the thought of tasting a sweet, crisp, secret. Most people don't know that a secret can sustain a demon for months - unlike corpses. Demons enjoy feeding on the truth - an exquisite luminous thing that strengthens those that digest it.  

"Tell me something you've never told anyone else," it whispers.
