This is the story of a person named Stanley.

Stanley worked for a company in a big building where they were Employee #427.

Employee #427's job was simple: they sat at their desk in Room 427 and they pushed buttons on a keyboard.

Orders came to them through a monitor on their desk telling them what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order.

This is what Employee #427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others may have considered it soul rending,

Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though they had been made exactly for this job.

And Stanley was happy.

And then one day, something very peculiar happened.

Something that would forever change Stanley;

Something they would never quite forget.

They had been at their desk for nearly an hour when they had realized not one single order had arrived on the monitor for them to follow.

No one had shown up to give them instructions, call a meeting, or even say 'hi'. Never in all their years at the company had this happened, this complete isolation.

Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found themself unable to move for the longest time.

But as they came to their wits and regained their senses, they got up from their desk and stepped out of their office.

BOOK 2 OF 3 Sequel to Tell Me The Truth - "Violet, I need to tell you something." Phoebe mumbles somewhat nervously. "Can it wait?" "Not really, it's about who-" "Fuck, I don't have time, I'm sorry!" I take everything from her hands and the doorman opens the door to the building for me with a big smile. I don't so much as glance around on the way to the elevator. Usually I would take my time studying the current interior and grade them in my head, but I actually have no time for any of that. I tap my foot impatiently in the elevator and straighten out everything in my hands while I head up to the fortieth floor. I watch the numbers move up achingly slow and barely wait for the doors to open before I slip through them. I head down the hall and see an open door that leads to a big office space. When I enter, I'm immediately met with a warm smile from the receptionist. I exhale heavily and smile back. "Violet Parker?" She asks and I nod my head, still trying to catch my breath. "Sorry I'm late." "You're right on time." She stands from her desk and leads me toward the conference room in the middle of different offices and cubicles. She opens the door and gestures for me to step through. The chatter from the men in the room dies down when I enter and I barely look up at them, just trying to get my stuff on the table before I drop any of it. "I apologize for not being here sooner, I see you started without me." I say with a smile. "Not at all, you can't start the show without the star." A friendly sounding older gentleman says and I smile wider, turning on the charm, and finally look up to assess the room of men in front of me. I lift my head to look toward the end of the table and everything stills. My eyes lock with a very familiar pair of green ones and I feel the color drain from my face as everything around me turns into white noise. Book #3 in The Fire series BLAKE RIVERA "You're the leader of a gang." Aiden yells. I look up at him. "You don't think I know that?" I yell back. "I am doing everything I can to protect my people!" "Your people are being murdered. You're in a war you don't even know is happening." "I know what's going on out there. I know what's happening." "Then why aren't you doing anything to stop it?" I slam my hands on the desk and stand up. "I am doing everything I can!" I yell anger laced in my voice as it flowed through my veins. Suddenly the lights went out; a flashing red light comes on as alarms sound. "You need to do more." Aiden says. "Otherwise this. It's never going to stop." "They're attacking." I realize. "They're always attacking. And they're not going to stop until we're dead." "Or surrender." I mumble and Aidens head snaps up to look at me. "You won't. You can't." "No, what I can't do is kill Felix." "The man you loved isn't there anymore. Can't you see that? He's gone. A monster wears his skin. What's it going to take before you realize that?" I shake my head. "Evacuate. Make sure everyone gets out of here. No one dies today." "Well, someone should. And we both know who it needs to be." Aiden says before he leaves the room. I know Aiden is right, but I can't kill Felix, even if he keeps trying to kill me. I shake my head and sit back down. Just because everyone else was leaving didn't mean I had to also. Maybe I can talk some sense into him. I sigh. I've tried to already, but maybe this time it will be different. Maybe I should tell him the truth. Maybe I should tell him Nadia is his daughter. The door to my planning room is thrown open but I stay seated. I look up as men flood into the room, soon followed by Felix. His emotionless eyes find mine and he cocks his gun. "You should have run with the others."

*beep* *beep* *beep* The fire alarm rang. Now, it was usual for it to sound early in the morning, as the Cherries pranked them every week with that. But it was unusual for it to sound at 4 in the morning. OJ got up from his bed to tell them off, but when he looked in the hallway... (Or, OJ's hotel burns down and people overthrow capitalism because of it.) (tw for hallucinations, something burning down, blood stuff, mind control, violence, and gaslighting)
