I wrote this poem after the death of my mother in law, it was a very painful thing to see as she could barely breathe, she was unable to speak. After her passing, I felt inspired to write what I felt she would say to her children and grandchildren, who were her life. By sharing, I hope to bring some form of comfort to any who have lost.

But, to love someone when things are difficult, when they're not being perfect, when they're messing up, flaws are seen, mistakes are made...that's what really allow you to see how much love there is really. Anyone can love someone who doing and saying all the right things, being everything you want and need, when they're got it all together and it all figured it out. But, to love someone at their lowest, to love someone despite how broken they feel, when they're lost, when you're willing to stand by them no matter how challenging or difficult things may be, that kind of love is a lot more beautiful. That kind of love is a lot more meaningful. Thank you for loving me both times when things are good and bad, up and down. A Year In Poetry
