Isla Waters and Brandon Evans are the best of friends. Inseparable since grade-school, they've done everything together, from sleepovers in the 1st grade, to playing video games in the 4th, attending the same high school, and even going to prom together. But as high school comes to an end, it seems their friendship must end too. All their plans together, of attending the same university, graduating together, and being best friends forever die with Brandon's grandmother. With no family left in LA, Brandon moves 5 hours away to Miami, Florida to live with his aunt, leaving them both devastated.
A year passes, both of them just having finished their freshman year. Isla flies out to Miami to visit Brandon, excited to have her best friend back and to spend the summer with him. However, when she gets there, it seems she'll be spending her summer with a stranger. Unrecognizable from the sweet boy who'd left LA, Brandon's a different person now. Can Isla fix their friendship and more importantly, save Brandon, before the summer's over?
