Alice was gone, he had to keep telling himself that. She was gone and she was not returning. All that mattered was Sophia. She was here, and she needed Jasper more than he needed Alice.
"We aren't tied to each other. We never were. I knew from the beginning, you are meant to be with someone else." Alice looked at Jasper with sadness before turning to follow Aro.
Sophia stared up from where she was laying, the pain from the trauma she had endured being cast aside from the searing fire coursing up from her stomach. The pain was real, the whole event was real. He was real.
"I'm not going anywhere! You're going to starve yourself for something that might not happen! Please, just-" Sophia cut off her sentence as Jasper's obsidian eyes pierced hers. "Just calm down, I can hear your heart." He looked determined to stay calm, to not hurt her.
