You can't hide your roots, no matter how hard you try. I would know, I've been trying to cover them my entire life. My name is Lana Garcia, a current college kid, former lowlife pogue, and the permanent sister of the notorious dealer, Barry. We live on the Outerbanks more specifically the cut. The cut is the South side of the island where a majority work two jobs, unlike the kooks who live on figure eight and have two houses or whatever.
The Outer Banks is a beautiful place but the memories weren't, I had known that my entire life. It took my year away at college to have it permanently inscribed in my brain. I watch as the "Welcome to the Outer Banks." gets closer and closer before it blurs by and appears in my rearview mirror.

After that, a series of events take place that include a long-lost ship called "The Royal Merchant", a lucky compass, a Midsummers ball, crazy family surprises, a bit of romance, a hidden stash of $400 million in gold, and a crazy axe murderer.
