Summer holidays have begun and the eleven year old Simon is looking forward to spending a few weeks of rest and relaxation at his Aunt Abygale's place near the sea.
A magical shimmering platelet, blinking in the morning sun under Simon's window, catches his immediate attention.
Had he only been dreaming, or had somebody really been at his window last night staring at him with fierce green eyes?
Together with his best friend Richie, he tries to learn the secret behind his mysterious find.
Little could either of them know, that they were holding the key to an incredible adventure.
Things come thick and fast when the inscrutable dragon Grewels arrives in Aunt Aby's garden by night. Incredulous, the two boys listen to the tale of Asragur's prophecy and the legacy of the old dragon king.
Should Simon and Richie really believe the incredible story told to them by their scaly guest? And what exactly is Simon chosen for?
Curiosity gets the better of them and the two friends follow the dragon, embarking on a perilous journey into a foreign world.
An adventurous race against time starts and a final fight to the death determines the future of a magic empire.
But do Simon and Richie really find their way back home into their own world?

The Last Knights of Cambria Book 1: Echoes of Gideon by kullman

Gideon Saint is dying for something exciting to happen in his life. With his love of history, he figures an internship at the museum has to be a good start, right? Anything is better than listening to his parents argue or sitting alone in his room doing research no one but him seems to care about. A chance encounter with a magical ring leaves him transported to an alternate version of ancient Wales, or as it was sometimes called, Cambria. 1432 Wales, to be exact. Here magic is the most powerful weapon of all as kings vie for power. Good thing Gideon's teleportation from the present has also left him with the ability to use magic, and he's quickly regarded as a powerful wizard. In this timeline, Wales maintained it's independence, but that's about to change. Henry V is on the throne of the England, and the greatest warrior king England has ever had has set his sights on Wales. Can Gideon help save his newfound friends and master his new powers, while living a double life in the 21st century? Ahem, living people die, dying people live, Henry V is here and he's awesome despite being the main antagonist, everybody is vaguely gay, swords are described in loving detail, people are not, lovely platonic friendships, did we mention swords? Yes, you may learn something about history, but that's a risk you'll have to take. Basically, think of this as a Percy Jackson type of adventure, but it's historical fiction instead of Greek gods. The narrator is 15 and the major supporting characters are 14, 17, and 19. That said, there's nothing in the way of content that's inappropriate for a younger reader. As always if you're not here to go on a fun little adventure find a different story. Trigger/Content: very mild language, some magic violence, fantasy violence. Self-harm is briefly discussed. Adoption issues are discussed as well as brief scenes of a abusive family. Characters briefly mention crushes and or dating, no real innuendos.

As expected he immediately tells his best friend, Christian, who is expectantly skeptical until he sees first hand Cyrus's car come to life. Together the two decide to investigate not only what took their friend but a way to get them back. The situation only grows more dire when more bodies begin to pop up around town with the same symbol carved into their foreheads and the creature's attacks becoming more frequent. Admit the hallucinations, midnight skinny- dipping and breaking and entering, Cyrus discovers parts of himself he wished would have stayed buried. That he is connected to the witches that once helped to create their town over a hundred years ago and has magical powers he never knew about. It was hard enough when everyone looked at him expecting a break down or another car accident, now he had to worry about not hexing someone.
