Madeleine gave the briefest of pauses as she sat beside him before quickly collecting herself. "Abby?"
"Yes, I understand she will be working here for the next year."
"Perhaps you have heard right. But why would this be of interest to you?"
"I would like to buy out her contract."
"That is most interesting. But why?"
"Isn't it obvious? I've developed an interest."
"Ah yes, of course. And may I ask how much this interest has developed?"
"We slept together last weekend. She's also meeting me tonight for dinner and hopefully spending the weekend with me again."
"Until Sunday morning, of course."
"Of course. That is... unless we can come to an agreement."
Madeleine regarded him for a moment, determining the proper response. She was in no way interested in just handing over the best thing to fall into her lap since she had started the club, of course, but she had no desire to insult Eden either, given their past.
