Melanthra couldn't figure out what made her stay with Vox Machina. Hell, being with them made her want to stay in bed all day. Every day and night it's an endless cycle of the previous one. Screwing up a job, going to a bar, drinking, starting a fight, and getting kicked out. By the end of the night, there's a headache pounding in Mel's skull, which leads to the repeating question passing through her head. "Why?". She went through hell and back just for this to be the life she gets?!

Since that day, Shoto hunts and kills every demon he can find. No matter how long it takes. Finally, Vox faces his hunter. No more running away. After a long fight, Shoto prepares to stab the demon one last time to kill him. But before he can do that, his vision blurs and he stumbles backwards. "What did you do to me, you filthy demon?!" is the last thing he screams, before losing consciousness. He doesn't notice that Vox is in the same situation.Complete
