It’s been many years since the last Triwizard Tournament. The ministry of Magic explained that it was too dangerous to retry. Except for now, no sign of Voldemort or Death eaters have been seen for 23 years. They must think it is safer now.

I guess that’s why they are trialling another tournament, at Hogwarts. Hogwarts is the safest of the three schools involved, I should know. The worst injuries I have seen are from Quidditch, or the occasional fight in the hallways.
