"Hello little one" came a booming voice, deep and sultry that made my stomach flutter like wings of a butterfly. 

"My Lord" I replied, keeping my head down, a quick curtesy, and eyes glued to the floor as if the marble tile was the most interesting pattern in the room. The auras coming from the dragon king was so demanding I felt like I could pass out. 

"Look at me little one. We do not bite. Much." the voice commanded, although gently it held power. A few snickers softly resonated. 

I took a breath and gently rose my eyes to meet the most beautiful golden eyes. I was so entranced that I almost didn't hear the one word that was going to change my life forever. 

Little did I know just how much my life was about to change.

"MATE." 

It took me a minute to register what just happened. Excuse me? Did i just hear the word mate? 

Oh shit.
