After telling the truth about Mari, everyone had mixed reactions. While Sunny and Basil were free from the trauma and guilt of carrying this secret, the scenario as a whole is bittersweet. Sunny has moved away and has made a new attempt at starting a new life.
3 years later, Sunny decides to make a surprise visit to Farway for winter break. While he does have his fears and doubts about seeing where he grew up, along with seeing his former childhood friends, he still feels like a trip back here wouldn't hurt and possibly could be fun.
