Although protests centering around the old Consul, Custard the first, and his opinions about the Cacao Kingdom cookies ran rampant in the Creme Republic, Madeleine wasnt worried about it. They'd calm down eventually. What Madeleine was worried about was his so-called 'friend,' Professor Espresso. Madeleine was determined to make Espresso admit he liked him. Still, protests got in the way of their relationship. But they'd calm down eventually.

An AU where Espresso was raised with the Cookies Of Darkness. Since he was merely a child, Espresso's one and only desire was to prove his worth to Dark Enchantress, his mother. He and his siblings were taught to despise the Vanilla Kingdom and its inhabitants, sparking an endless war between the light and the dark. Lonely. That's what Madeleine's been ever since the mage left. Sure, he has other people. He has his fans, he has Latte, he has the Divine who so graciously granted him that pair of feathered wings upon his back. But it's just not the same, not anymore. Not without Espresso. So when he finally gets the chance to meet the man he once loved yet again, he won't pass up the chance to protect him. He won't let him go again, even if it means fighting until his very last breath. --- This story is an AU where everyone's "human", just with food names. There are actually quite a few nonhumans/monsters, both turned and born. Madeleine is a turned creature, given wings and feathers by the Divine. There are many other such creatures, including Espresso. If that makes you uncomfortable in any way, you've been warned. You don't have to read this, you know. Also there's gay (of course) and they're both transgender because I said so and I wanted to make Madeleine suffer period cramps. Don't be homophobic. I probably won't be adding smut to this one (though if I make a book 2 there might be), so don't get your hopes up. --- This cover was done by me in watercolor! I'm not bothering to add words to it. It's been over a year since Gingerbrave, Wildberry Cookie, Crunchy Chip Cookie, Espresso Cookie and Madeleine Cookie came to the Crème Republic. During a visit with Madeleine's family, Espresso expresses his doubts that Madeleine, the pampered, spoiled, upper class, celebrity that he is, could even survive a minute in the lower city living the way Espresso did when he was young. Madeleine takes up the challenge to live a full week in the slums of the lower city without any help from the upper city. If he succeeds, then Espresso has to write a full thesis paper on why light magic is the best magic. If he doesn't, then Madeleine will have to take the mid-term test for Espresso's class.Complete
