200 years ago there was an outbreak. A virus of sorts, no one knew where it came from, if it was chemical warfare or if it was a leak from a lab. It killed off over half of the population. Out of who was left, about 25% of the living population were still carriers. The remaining healthy decided to protect themselves, they built walls around their cities, keeping out any carriers or threats that might wipe the rest of humanity out. The cities weren't prepare for what happened a few year after the initial outbreak. The carriers started mutating. Scientists said it was due to the virus, it was changing their bodies, making them look... Less human. They ranged from keeping some features similar to humans, only with enhanced senses and few changed features. Others had changed completely, no longer even resembling humans. In later years they even found that some carriers had gone completely zombie like, they called those the Mindless. They followed orders of whoever was the strongest carrier and if there wasn't one, they attack anything they see. The remaining government kept most of this from the public. This had lead people to believe these carriers were demons sent from some higher being to punish humanity. - - - THIS IS A WRITTEN DRAFT FOR A TO-BE WEBCOMIC!!! Rik couldn't afford college, so he took a janitor job at a virology lab. One night, he cleaned up a broken test tube. Soon, his beard stopped growing. His Cheetos-and-donut paunch disappeared. Suddenly, when he talked, people actually listened. Sure, he could see spirits, too, and a high-ranking devil may or may not be hunting him, but mostly this was great. Then his sister caught the virus. And others. If the virus spread out of control, what would happen? An angel apocalypse? The hordes of hell's minions could not afford to have the human race turn into angels. To stem the spread of the angel virus, they invaded. Suddenly, it was up to Rik and Trixie to save the city, and themselves, and maybe the whole human race. --- Complete. Still polishing. As might be inferred from the title, this story deals in a loose way with Christianity, one of the five major world religions. It is not, however a "Christian story" in the sense of illustrating actual religious experience or practice. I just thought I'd be plain about that here, so readers can decide whether to turn the page or not. This story is an urban fantasy and it is entirely fictional. Content rating: teen.
