Alhaitham waited a few painful seconds, before speaking, his eyes trained on Kaveh. "Have you heard of Eleazar?"
"Of course."
There was a short moment of silence, as if Alhaitham was thinking of the best way to phrase it. Only a few seconds passed until he spoke, hesitating mid-sentence.
"The simplest way to explain it is that it's.. mutated."

A contagious and fatal illness, recognised for sharing many symptoms with Eleazar, started to spread around Sumeru. The Akademiya reccomended that people stay in their homes until the worst of it passed, leaving Kaveh stuck with Alhaitham, 24/7, with the tension between them both increasing every passing day.
As well as dealing with the foreign changes between him and his roommate, Kaveh's curiosity about the illness also started to increase over the time he spent cooped up at home, and... You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.
