Nagito Komaeda and Hajime Hinata had met, only when they were the young age of five. They were friends for about five years, Hinata was the only friend Komaeda was lucky enough to have back then. But Hinata had to move away once they were around eleven, leaving Komaeda and himself in a deep depression. Hajime accidentally forgets about the other, until they coincidentally meet at Hope's Peak. Hinata still doesn't quite remember the other, but, he feels as though the other is much too familiar, while Nagito remembers him clearly and tries to help Hajime remember. He's having trouble believing that and he doesn't feel like he's worth the effort. You want to help him as much as you can so he knows he's loved too, and so he can feel true happiness from loving himself back as well. What starts out platonic becomes a romantic story that runs into the threads of deep despair with only a shred of hope to hang onto. What happens when things become just a little more complicated than a high school romance was meant to be? Will you succeed at winning his heart that you didn't know you were chasing after? Will you and Chiaki be able to save your friends? Will Nagito be able to save you? . . . This book takes place during the Despair Arc and later books continue in chronological order of the series installments.
