Kenna Hatfield was a child kicked out of high school during her freshman year over a dispute within which she should have disassociated herself. Still, she was never someone to simply stand by and watch injustice, so she acted on impulse and lost any chance of further education until she was able to get her GED. She was taught a more practical skill by her much older brother. Carpentry, constructing large buildings and even wiring electrical work has kept her sane for the last ten years. Now it's time for her to leave home, rejoin society and leave her sordid past behind. She gets a job through her brother and moves from the Providence, Rhode Island, venturing to West Texas and quickly falls in love with the land. What Kenna hadn't anticipated was her new boss.
Raising her own hobby farm that also doubles as an animal sanctuary, Janet Garza has a thriving livelihood.
