She loved the darkness so much, that she became a part of it. He only knew her name: Melanie Winter Mayes. He sat beside her in their Creative Writing class, and watched her. She never let anybody in; she could only vent by writing songs and poetry. When he accidentally walks in on her singing and playing the piano in the chorus room during Study Hall, her embarrassment forces her into shutting him out, just as she had done with anyone and everyone else who ever tried to get close to her. When Harry breaks down the walls to her well armed castle, will her empire of loneliness and mystery come crashing down?

She was alone. When there was no-one else she wrote her thoughts and emotions to him. Because he would never read them, and that's what she wanted. But she never expected a reply. Alexia May is a twelve year old girl who has never really known a life outside of pain. She was bullied everyday and was left orphaned after her parents died, living with her step-mum, Anna.
