One day, Sonic went on his daily run like always, however he didn't return home. He went missing for years, and when he finally came back, he was the complete opposite of the hero we all know and love. He started cussing, he was meaner, had an attitude, and most of all, was the cause of the destruction of the own world he promised to protect.

For those who have never read Sonic (Archie) comics I suggest reading issues 193-195, will help to understand some points of this story. Due to the deadline to submit the fanfic, I had to make changes to the original ideas I had for the story. Flashbacks were shortened and were counted by the characters themselves. He held the book against his chest as if his life depended on it. He had promised, he wouldn't let go of it. His breath was heavy and ragged, the smoke filling his lungs intrusively. Green eyes snapped everywhere, looking desperately for an exit. He jumped when his back met the thick wall behind him, his eyes landing on the awful smoky creature. Each step it took made a sloppy sound that made the blue hedgehog cringing. Sonic was screwed. He tightly shut his eyes as he saw the creature jumping towards him, protecting the book instinctively. But when he thoughts that he would hear his own scream, his ears perked up at the sound of an audible squeak and a grunt. He peeked one eye out, seeing only smoke from where the monster was a second ago. Sonic's eyes widened and he looked around immediately, his hands slightly shaking. As he looked up at a roof, he noticed a silhouette, standing there, a giant smoky scythe resting over his shoulder. His crimson red eyes locked onto green emerald ones. "Pathetic." the figure said, making a shiver run up Sonic's spine."
