You don't have to read the Chief of the Gerudo, but it is recommended. 1000 years have passed since the defeat of Calamity Ganon and the King and Queen of Hyrule, Link and Zelda, hold a ceremony to celebrate its anniversary, but as soon as it starts there's an attack on the Castle and they go missing. Hyrule is under attack by an unstoppable dark force, and only the young Princess Zariah knows about it.

If you read King Rhoam, Princess Zelda, or Lady Urbosa's diaries, they mention a Queen. The Queen of Hyrule, but's is also known as Zeldas mother. The Queen knew that her daughter had her blood, also known as the goddesses blood. She was supposed to help her on summoning it. However, a turning point came of where she passed away suddenly. Zelda and Link have defeated Calamity Ganon and are now free to go their own way. However, it is hard to get to grips with their past, which can get in the way of their present. And as if that isn't hard enough, there seems to be a new threat that they will need to face. **This story takes place directly after Breath of the Wild and has no link to Tears of the Kingdom.
