Finding out his identity is only his first barrier, but when an unknown man finds himself trapped on an island, a whole other set of problems find him. The future and the past seem to be indistinguishable from one another on The Island of Stability, and his everyday life is set on a course he has no control over, a course that if he goes against it, could lead to fatal results... 

How can the citizens already recognize him, when he can't even recognize himself? And why are there women who have taken a particular interest in him, one with power, and one with seeming compassion, a woman installed in his world, but to what end? To spy, or to pacify? 

He has but two choices, to be obedient, or to go against the grain, with dangerous implications. Can he solve the riddle of The Newlander, and find a way out...

When Evita starts asking questions Evelyn Sheer, the head of the city's Department of Energy, takes her captive and places her in a secret, underground research facility. Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Evita isn't ready to leave.
