The story takes place long ago and is about a scientist that has no other dream but to create life. After many failures, he is forced to seek help from hooded figures that appear one night. He succeeds, but gets trapped in deal he can't escape from. A few months later, a shadow starts terrorizing the land of Inkopolis. It strikes at night, it's blade cutting down everyone that gets in it's way. One night, four travelers gather to stop the shadow, and go out to fight it. They simply shrug it off though, as it's just nature doing its thing and not a villain. When Callie and Marie fall ill due to the a strange sickness however, it's up to the squidbeak to get the magical fruit cure from a forbidden enchanted garden. Will they succeed, especially with a plant witch guarding it? and why is the Nana so nervous?
