Odessa gave all she could in her fifth yea at Hogwarts to protect the people she quickly grew to care for. Unfortunately for them, she had failed. She didn't know if everyone blamed her but she felt like they at least partially did and she deserved that. In the end she couldn't keep Sebastian or Professor Fig safe and that's something she would always have to live with. The least she could do was dedicate whatever she had left to protecting the ancient magic beneath the school. Even if that means doing it alone.
