Kasumi stared at him from beneath her cowl, "Look at the Commander, what do you see?" What did he see? "She is a warrior, unmatched, truly, she glows on the battle field," Kasumi still held that expectant look in her eye and Thane knew he should give in, "Off the battle field? She's beauty incarnate. I grow weak when she merely glances my way." "Wow," Kasumi chuckled with a wry smirk, "You're in deep." Thane agreed. He was in deep and he wanted to drown in her.

The story of Graceyn Shepard - life, death, rebirth, and life once again. "If It Meant Living" covers the game trilogy and much more. While Shepard is the primary focus, major characters are given significant attention and love. Canon is only respected so long as it’s worthy, so don’t get comfortable thinking you know what’s going to happen :). Note: The ME1 and ME3 stories will be published as separate works, as well as the sequel ("Beyond") and the one-shots ("Tales") - but it is fundamentally one over-arching story (hence the continuity of chapter numbering for ME1-3). The "R" rating is for language, violence and (eventually) sexual situations. Bioware owns all rights to Mass Effect and its characters.
