"Sometimes to win, you need to fake it till you make it, meaning you'll have to put on a happy face all the time."
When a special project was put into thought and action by Sunset Ridge's own Journalism Club, the whole team was on edge as to who would interview whom.
The special project was simple: pick past students who were thought to have been the best representatives and examples of one of the school's values.
Unexpectedly, Journalism Club member Brooklyn Walters is chosen specifically by one of the past students, Ashley Mendoza. She questions exactly why she was chosen and is more astounded than anyone that she would be chosen.
As Brooklyn interviewed Ashley, she tells her story about how she embarked their school's value of friendship. From entering into year 7 as the start of her high school journey with a ridiculous amount of friends, all the way to how alone she felt in her graduating year. She talks about the blossoming and unexpected friendships she made, the amount of backstabbing, betrayals, and unexpected forgiveness that she received and gave.
As Ashley's story concludes, Brooklyn finally discovers why she was specifically asked by Ashley to interview her. It became clear why she was chosen because a special member of her life intersected with hers in its own backstabbing and tragic ways.
