A slice-of-life short about a small master stonecutter's work for a very important client in Ancient Egypt.
This was the response to a college assignment, in my creative fiction class, about 10 years ago.

I never realised that everything i was feeling would somehow come to life. This is a story based on real life events and some fiction. Its up to you to decide what is real and what isnt. This story follows a girl who is constantly reminded about her bad choices and how she cant escape whats in her mind. Every time she feels safe, its taken away. So she decides to make a choice one that will either harm everyone she meets or will save her life. She feels like she is destined to walk alone then he notices something dark, a presence she never noticed. Until now.Concluida
Lingering Flame
You're past is what defines a person, destroying your family kingdom is one way for the people to call you the Agni Chidiya, The doom of the Ember family. But the people didn't care if it was an accident or it was out of your control. Or when you are different from you're family that is famous for their gift, and you are not able to be the same as your family does, so people view you as a failure and don't care what makes you special. The expectation of others puts a filter on your mind on what that person is and you're opinion of them, did the person who accidentally or didn't have control to avoid the destruction of their kingdom deserve justice? Or that family that didn't want to try to be special, but became different anyway, do they deserve so much neglect and hatred? This fantasy, slice of life, romance, drama story shows that expectation can lead you to believe that people are defined on what they were before, but it is better learn what they are now than before.Concluida

Its all a tug of war. Apart from survival, what drives us is the search for happiness, the pursuit of joy. This story is just that. A tug of war between two individuals, each believing that the other is their key to happiness in some way or form. However, in order to be happy, one must have their way. OUT NOW! Life is quiet, till it isn't. Change is abrupt and has the tendency of appearing quickly and overwhelmingly. So what else are you supposed to do, rather than detach yourself, just to survive with the change? My life was planned. I had it all written in stone and had accepted what my life would become. I never wanted a life that was very adventurous or challenging. I wanted it to all be as mundane as possible. All of this change has to slow down because I'm not sure how much of it I can handle. I was expecting to live a beige life; nothing exciting or daring, the days would be all the same till they all blended into the other, I would work a desk job and marry a man who would lie and say that he wasn't sexist but then would use microaggressions constantly and who wouldn't understand the word 'no', the normal things in life. That's what I had been prepared for. Though it sure as hell wasn't what I got.Concluida
