Thousands of years ago, a meteor came crashing down in the savannah. Its shockwave blasted a hole in the earth and dug all the way down to bedrock. Once it hit the immovable stone, the shockwave opened up a huge cave, but the surface remained stable.
When the meteor touched down, it didn't just leave a big hole in the ground; at the point of contact, there was a single sapling. one that hasn't been seen in this world until now, but with no water and limited sun, the plant started to die.
An outlaw who fled to the cave accidentally found the struggling plant, thinking that it would be valuable. He decided to take it for trade, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't take it. It was warm-almost alive. He'd been on the run his whole life, but for the first time, he felt at home. After failing to take the sapling multiple times, the bandit left and went back to work, but he kept feeling compelled to return to the little tree. Every time he did, he cared for it more, and it began to thrive, and the outlaw kept staying for longer and longer.
As the years went on, the cave became a home, and the tree started to look less and less like a normal tree. It never produced leaves, but it always felt alive; the branches started to glow as it reached up further to the sun, and it started to spread its energy to the rest of the cave. Its warmth beckoned wanderers to it, and the civilization of Ursuraas was born.
