Gunshots echoed around us, ringing, deafening. Running across concrete, out feet pounding heavily. Jolting every step. They had cornered us.
Before us lay miles of blue, sparkling and bouncing like a crystal ball. And behind? Certain death.
I stood, staring down at the sheer cliff face, my awareness magnified. My friend stood behind me. I could feel her trembling, breath coming out in rugged gasps, hating the anticipation. We counted down silently in out heads. 10, 9, 8... Her shaking hand found mine. 7, 6, 5... Teetering on the edge. 4, 3, 2... We closed our eyes. 1. And jumped.
