Can be considered a standalone but if you want to know what Matthew went through at the time of all of this happening, I'd recommend reading book one as well. Especially since those characters get thrown back to being the main characters later! I will also be putting a character sheet of them when it comes to it too for those that do read it as a standalone or even just a memory jog:)!
