Parents from the 1800's seemed to get desperate when their son or daughter wasn't married by the age of 18. Imagine your child never finding a true love or start their own family, imagine if your bloodline ends. Those were the biggest worries of parents in that time period.
So, what better thing to do than to sign your child up for a matchmaker? They would find true love right? Just give the matchmaker your gold and bread, and you will have grandkids in no time.

But what happens when a prince gets signed up for the match? What if there is no one of him to match with? At least not a girl, will you find one?....or create one
