Rodmilla Maxine Eldon has to start formal education when after her mothers death, her father takes a teaching position at Honeybourne Academy. She quickly befriends the kind and mischievous Benedict Godrich, who attaches himself to her almost immediately. Her father, who is actually a godfather, forbade her from seeing him.
