Sophia Hunter has been in the foster system for ten years. She pushes people away because she thinks they want to replace her parents, who died when she was four years old. She is distant and unsociable until she meets the perfect family. She tries to hide how much she likes them but can't keep herself from falling in love with her new foster family. But because she won't show it the foster family soon stops trying. Sophia is now devastated because of how they treat her. But soon they find out how she feels and Sophia has to chose what she will do for the rest of her life.

She gets nightmares, flashbacks, and sometimes cry herself to sleep. Poor little girl, right? But one day, a happy couple decided to adopt a little girl just under the age of 12. When they saw Sophia, they knew that she was the one. Although Sophia is shy, sometimes scared of the opposite gender, and has a fear of boxes, this couple is determined to show Sophia that the world has a bright and happy side.
