We sat in silence. My heart pounded so loudly I'm sure he could hear it thus making my cheeks redden. He's my best friend, my protector, the one I'm most comfortable with yet in this very moment I can't help, but let the nerves overtake me.

I'm tongue tied, dazed, absolutely enthralled by his very presence.

I keep my gaze forward, our arms brushing against one another as he breathes in deeply and let's out a peacefully hum.

We stare out into the night of New York City. The sky pitch black, the lights beautiful, the noise oddly comforting.

And in this very moment. I would give everything to stay by his side. To stay in this moment. To pause and replay everyday.

But when the sun come up and the moon fades away, he'll be back underground and I'll be back amongst the people.

For how could a human and humanoid turtle ever be together.

Follow Asami Yamada, a 15 year old Japanese American, whom has trouble navigating teenage life from high school drama to befriending four talking mutant turtles who also happen to be teenagers ....oh and also..... ninjas.
