For five years, the vampire Flynn has been living under his maker's roof, settling into immortal life. Unlike other vampires, though, he can't remember anything about being human. This riddle has plagued him since his turning, with only a handful of disconnected memories to tie him to a doctor named Peter; his former self, or so they say.
His lover and immortal brother, Michael (Robin) O'Shane, has tried to guide him, but their maker, Sabrina, has a hold on Flynn that even Robin can't break. When a series of mysterious deaths haunts the vampire covens of Philadelphia, Robin suspects his wayward brother. And when an elder vampire falls to an untimely death, the black rose left on a doorstep confirms Flynn's involvement.
Flynn has a knack for murder. Robin finds out the why when a duo of humans let him in on a secret. His brother has hidden psychic gifts which had yet to be realized when he turned vampire. A group of vampire hunters exists elsewhere, not knowing that one of them has been taken and made immortal, and Sabrina now plays a dangerous game.
In order to save Flynn, they have to awaken the man he once was. The deeper they go, the darker Sabrina's scheme becomes, revealing plans already set in motion which have Flynn in their epicenter. The stability of the vampire world depends on Robin and his accomplices rousing the psychic hunter asleep within Flynn. But playing with fire could threaten even graver consequences.
