Fathom

Whale oil. It makes the world go 'round. Lighting up homes during dark nights. Providing warmth to families through cruel winters. Powering the pistons of machinery in demanding factories. Fuelling constructs of war in old conflicts. The liquid gold is coveted by all...but collected only by a daring - or desperate - few.

Timothy Jacobs, barely a man, decides to be one of these few. Stepping aboard the ancient, bone-clad whaler known as The Cirean, he finds himself surrounded by rough men, rougher seas, and the roughest quarry.

And it is within the belly of the beast where he finds a most curious treasure. A treasure that whispers. A treasure that calls the listener, far out into the black sea...

Fathom is a novel inspired by works of authors such as Herman Melville and H.P Lovecraft, with some fantasy elements added. Dialogue, characters and themes are intended to reflect those of the 19th-century whaling time period, alongside a few steam-punk elements.
