This is a sequel so I recommend reading the first book first.
6 months after Hiccup was presumed dead, he reappears. He wages war on the people of Berk. However 8 months into the war Hiccup is losing as the other tribes allied themselves with berk such as : the berserkers bog burgalars, snake and wolf and even the outcasts. So being pushed back Hiccup and his dragon army leave out side the archiepelago never to be heard from again. 2 years later and Hiccup came back but with someone else helping Viggo and his army of thousands of dragon hunters.
