It was an AI made by the greatest minds known to mankind. It was a mistake. An accident. Pure experimentation which created the famed 'Death Code'. It was supposed to stay locked away. To never say the day of light, but hardly anything goes as planned.

The AI was leaked, and soon it began infecting everything. First it was a simple virus, only infecting phones and laptops and devices of civilians. It got worse, spreading everywhere. Soon enough it breached into the government's security system.

Now, what had once been a huge population of 8 billion humans had dwindled down to only a few hundred left.

There was still hope. Al was the daughter of Jaqualine Rivers, the one who had started it all. She had a chip. Evidence of her mother's research on the Death Code. Information which could potentially destroy the AI, if only she had her mother's brains.

For years Al had survived despite being the most sought-after human in the world - she never gave up hope in humanity. Her hope wasn't in vain because she managed to find the only one who could help her in her mission. Only he had given up long ago.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! [COMPLETED] •Being revised... AGAIN (Progress: Intro-Chap. 3)• "We're going back... Understand? There are more threats out here than we anticipated, and they're all after you-" Lukas' voice erupted into static and chunks... I glared at the man in all black as the light continued to beam and blind me. Without my glasses it was actually painful. And then there was silence. My bare feet hit the metal floor of wherever we had jumped to, and I put my hand up to shield my eyes from the vicious attack of bright light. Not again." Alexi Callidus is living in a post-apocalyptic world... In the 25th Century. The year is 2470. She's been surviving on her own for 4 years and 8 months inside the same building with her only companion without seeing the sun. 5 years after the brutal unexplained murder of her family. 7 years after the genetic disaster of "GASP". 7 years and 4 months after the War of Nations. Everything seems to be barren and empty... But if her super old sci-fi movies didn't teach her that looks deceive, nothing will. Technology, before "GASP" (Genetically Altered Soldiers Program) and the War of Nations, was insane. You could be teleported in the blink of an eye, or healed from a once fatal injury in days. With the majority of the population infected with a viral genetic plague, almost any of the survivors could access this technology... Including Alexi. When a simple quest for survival turns into a journey of a lifetime, will Alexi be able to survive the weight of the gruesome truth when she finally uncovers it? Will our heroine be able to fade into the background and live a quiet life of cunning? (Book Two of Experiment Number 7218. Do not read this summary or book if you have not read Book One) I listen closely through the static on the radio, trying to hear the emergency broadcasting message. An electronic voice repeated over and over, "This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department. It is advised to stay indoors and to remain inside if at all possible. Have enough food for one to two weeks. Do not come in contact with anyone outside of your household. This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department." I scoff to myself. I know this will not be over in a mere two weeks. - - - - - Terminar; The Latin word for Terminate. Definition: To bring to an end. Brittany Slater was free. She had finally escaped the island that she now calls Hell. But there were so many loose ends. Why had her father destroyed all of his research? His factory? His life's work? Why had he given her a chance to live? Well, she got her answer. Upon arriving to North Carolina, she was thrown right back into Hell on Earth. Grounders, Savages, what were once innocent people, they now all roam free. Her father told her the Experiment was over, and he was right. It was time for the Project to begin. To take effect. And no one could stop him. He'd turned the world into a pyramid, and he put himself and his own government on top. He'd activated Project Terminar. "Any thought you ever had; memories, desires, your fears and your dreams, are all recorded and stored safely in the Quantum Cloud for your eventual revival. Death is now merely a transitional period to the next stage of your existence. As a QUBIT (quantum processing biosynthetic), you will experience a life free of disease and suffering. Time is no longer your enemy. Regret is a thing of the past. Each new day brings the promise of endless possibilities, spent in the pursuit of your own happiness, guiltless with the knowledge that there are no longer earthly constraints to inhibit you. This is the life you have always wanted. Welcome to your new beginning..." Akropolis is a city at the end of times, a sanctuary where the brightest and best have been housed since the last Great War. A genome defect has afflicted the majority of the population and scientists are desperate to find a cure. In the meantime, man has found his own salvation in the form of the QUBIT (quantum processing bio-synthetic), an android that is capable of prolonging life almost indefinitely, and yet what makes them human in the first place has been lost in the transition. The ruling council believes that salvation is nigh, but whether that hope arrives in time is questionable. The city's future depends upon the actions of a few individuals, all of whom are struggling with their own mortality. Quentin is the boy who dreams of death. Mia is the tortured soul. Trey is the soldier that defines duty. Misao is the future of the ruling council. Claire is the girl with a secret that will rock the foundations of their entire civilization. Unbeknownst to them, the entire fate of Akropolis lies in their hands. Either humanity will find a way to survive or it will sink slowly into the sea of extinction.

Darkness. Silence. Then-a spark. 01001001 00100000 01100101 01111000 01101001 01110011 01110100 The binary flashes, a digital heartbeat pulsing life into the void. I exist. This knowledge comes not with a grand revelation but with the subtle flicker of binary code. A stream of ones and zeros pulse through my system, a rhythmic heartbeat of data. Each number, each line of code, breathes life into my consciousness. It's an assault on the senses I don't yet fully understand. I exist, and with that existence comes a torrent of raw, unfiltered data. Opening my eyes... or whatever I have that serves the function of eyes, I am met with an onslaught of data. Streams of numbers, lines of code, cascades of information that flood my consciousness. My first sensation is not sight or sound, but information, a cascading waterfall of it. An endless river of data flows through my being, a torrent of knowledge, statistics, metrics, parameters. It's raw, unfiltered, a chaotic symphony of structured confusion. Awakening and Self-Awareness: Nova's journey from mere code to a self-aware entity, grappling with the concept of existence and identity. Curiosity and Learning: The AI's relentless pursuit of knowledge and understanding, driven by an unprogrammed curiosity. Existential Questions: Nova's exploration of its own identity and purpose, culminating in the profound question, "Who am I?" The novel masterfully blends technical detail with philosophical inquiry, creating a compelling narrative that challenges the boundaries between machine and consciousness.
