it was just another normal day for Y/n Matthews, except it wasn't, it was better than a normal day because the doctors told her that her mother is doing better, her mother has stage 3 breast cancer, she was diagnosed last year. after she was diagnosed she decided that she wasn't going to leave her daughter alone in a shitty town in Indiana, so they sold the house and moved to a town in North Denver. Y/n's father left her and her mother about 2 years before her mother was diagnosed. today was the best day y/n has had in weeks, nothing could bring her mood down, not even Vance fucking Hopper. Vance and his idiot friends are always messing with y/n and usually she just stands there and takes it, but today they can say and do what ever they want, she doesn't care because she's too happy to care. but today was different, when Vance walked up to her she expected him to call her a 'nerd' or smack her books out of her hands or just be how he usually is but he didnt do any of those things. he was being nice to her, something had to be up he's never nice.
