It all started with a hush and an ellipse and an eighteen-year-old girl named Lia hungry to prove herself as a true badass after a life in the shadows of her older brothers. But what does that mean?
Her Nana would say it's having the courage to be kind to all, even the ones she doesn't like. Her father would say it's total self-reliance. Her brother would say it's putting a lead pipe up against the head of anyone who won't take her seriously.
But when the opportunity comes to take a mysterious job no one has been able to finish in the thirty years since it was posted, the pressure is on, and Lia is left to discover for herself what it requires to stand up and stand out.
