In this world, the inhabitants are a unique species of human-tree hybrids, known as "treeple." They came out of the forests and moved in to the suburbs after the humans disappeared. They coexist with other creatures and plant life and they have a deep connection with nature. The Treeple are peaceful and gentle beings, and their culture emphasizes harmony and balance with their surroundings. They have a unique understanding of the cycles of life, and they view death as a natural part of the cycle of renewal, with their bodies returning to the earth to nourish new life. All is well with their world until one day, when The Call sounds different to the ones before. They prepare themselves every time, they know they need to get to The Root, but this time the journey is going to test them and might even put the future of their species in jeopardy.
